Ecosystem

An Ecosystem is a community of different life forms working together. Naturally, ecosystems work towards biodiversity, so the measure of biodiversity in a system, compared with its resources, can be a measure of ecosystem health - i.e. if two ecosystems exist in relatively the same environment (same amount of nutrients and energy), and one is more diverse, it is considered more healthy.
Since the agricultural revolution, humans have pitted themselves against the processes of life, and have attempted to remove themselves from ecosystems by placing themselves as above, and superior to other forms of life, usually attempting to control ecosystems as well.
