Ramsar Convention on Wetlands

The Ramsar Convention on Wetlands [1] signed in 1971 in Ramsar, Iran, recognises and provides for the "wise use" of wetlands of international significance. Ramsar-listed wetlands in eastern Australia include the Barmah-Millewa River Red Gum forests, the Hunter River estuary and the Myall Lakes.
